Australian mining mission to Poland and Czech Republic

Australian mining mission to Poland and Czech Republic visited the Central Mining Institute on the 1st April 2014. The delegation consisted of the representatives of the universities and enterprises occupying with the production of mining equipment and the supply of the technologies and services for extraction industry for example in the range of explosion-proof safety or visualization of the production processes for the control and reporting of mining production. Also the representative of CSIRO, one of the biggest and best known research agencies in the world in the range of energy, environment protection and mineral resources exploitation was present.

There are rich deposits of natural resources in Australia and thanks to them it became the leader in hard coal (the fourth place) and in lignite (the fifth place) excavation. This huge resources base supports development of the world class equipment for extraction, technologies and services sector in Australia, which brings Australian economy the income of 90 billions AUD yearly.

The representatives of the Australian mining sector had an opportunity to discover the challenges of the Polish and Czech enterprises and organizations operating at the mining market. During the meeting the guests were strongly interested with the solutions of the Institute’s specialist from the range of work safety, blasting agents, geology and mining geophysics and mining technologies and these problems will certainly be the topics of the future talks and discussions. At all these areas the Institute possesses vast experience as well as highly qualified staff and modern research apparatus. The Institute is also experienced in cooperation with foreign partners. During last few years the range of the Institute’s foreign cooperation has clearly enlarged and covers practically the whole mining world. The Australian guests opine that the new investments in coal extraction and processing can constitute serious input in world economy and environment protection, particularly in decrease of CO2 emission. They left convinced that this visit was just a beginning of the development of the Polish-Australian cooperation in the scientific field.
