Product testing for certification and conformity assessment, as well as issuing expert's opinions remain an important element of servicing and research potential of the Department. The Department of Material Engineering has experienced staff as well as measuring and research equipment of the latest generation that allow for providing research and development service under design and processing of polymer and biopolymer nanocomposites with significant properties especially such as increased flame resistant and conductivity.

  • Design and selection of mining support such as: steel yielding support, rockbolt support, concrete and shotcrete lining;
  • Design and selection of powered roof support for site specific geological and mining conditions;
  • Design and selection of special mining support systems for difficult and complicated the geological and mining conditions;
  • Development of  powered roof support requirements  for operation in conditions of rock mass tremors occurrence;

These systems are innovative and characterized by reduced, toxicity reduction of combustion products and reduced smoke release.
